Hi! My name is Ava Ward Wallace. I am a passionate community advocate and leader committed to driving positive change through the world of Psychology. With over four years of dedicated involvement in various youth-led initiatives and non-profit organizations, I bring experience in community engagement, leadership, and social impact. My background spans diverse roles, including co-founding the youth chapter of a grocery non-profit to combat hunger in South LA, advocating for accessible public transportation, and mentoring young learners as a camp counselor. In addition to my community work, I've honed valuable skills in operations management, customer relations, and entrepreneurship through my roles in the grocery market and as a self-employed multi-service entrepreneur. As the President of the Black Student Union, I've also led initiatives promoting diversity and inclusion, further sharpening my communication and organizational skills. In addition to my advocacy efforts, I am driven to pursue research and internships to address the disparities within the field of psychology. My passion lies in understanding and mitigating the discrepancies in mental health care access, particularly within marginalized communities. Through rigorous research and hands-on experience, I aim to contribute to developing more inclusive and culturally competent approaches to mental health treatment.By actively engaging in research projects and seeking internships, I hope to gain insights into the underlying factors perpetuating these disparities and collaborate on innovative solutions. I believe that through dedicated study and practical experience, we can work towards creating a more equitable and accessible mental health care system for all individuals, regardless of background or circumstance. That being said, help me make this change. I look forward to connecting with you!
