Before coming to Canada, I had the pleasure of building my people skills in my father's small business in Jamaica. It is thanks to growing up around the bustling streets and the back and forth wholesale negotiations that I came to think being an accountant might be a major benefit to my family. I can still very distinctly recall being in my early teens and assisting customers and managing employees despite my young age. From that experience, I was able to learn to effectively communicate, time manage efficiently, and overall come out of my comfort zone.
