SmartLine-----------• The ultimate responsibility for the architecture and implementation and management of the SmartLine - a system (of systems) that operates industrial food packing machines. Worked with a multi-disciplinary team, geographically dispersed over Europe and North America.• Developed a 3D Graphical User Interface (in QML/QtQuick3D)], network communication infrastructure, including a Shared World Model module (RPC / object sharing), an Integration Interface (with ICD), and supported the implementation of OPC UA and EthernetIP adapters.• The Proof-of-Concept system (of systems) was successfully demonstrated during the client's yearly Dealer Days (Sep '22), and selected for the Interpom 2022 Innovation Tour. The pilot has been running in a food packing facility since Jan '23.

Remote working adjustment of the previous responsibilities as Team Leader due to the inability to return to Australia under the pandemic-related restrictions. Now with a stronger focus on technical vision and less on project management.

C-BDI Resilient Teams:-------------------------• Final responsibility for the SDLC and management of AOS's next-generation Agent Teams framework, targeted at field-deployable robotic systems. Lead a team of 3 (very) senior software engineers and 1 postdoc at the University of Melbourne. Collaborated with RMIT University (domain experts). • Architected the well-documented C-BDI Resilient Agent Teams AI framework, which involved combining the Beliefs-Desires-Intentions (BDI) reasoning model with the Distributed Systems paradigm. Orchestrated meetings with stakeholders, the project board, and domain experts; conducted demonstrations, and delivered project deliverables in time. Currently implementing the Agent Team distribution infrastructure (C++). • As a result of a successful Prototype demonstration (July 2020) the project funding is continued and the software is used in a major gov program.iWatchdog------------• Final responsibility for the SDLC and management of a proof-of-concept version of iWatchdog 2.0 - a distributed agent system (of systems) that coordinates and operates heterogeneous UxVs, including the Kelpie UGV. Lead a team of 5 software engineers and 1 postdoc at the Queensland University of Technology. Collaborated with a Prime (to integrate their USV). • Established a distributed infrastructure for field robotics applications, including a Shared World Model module (RPC / object sharing), an Integration Base module (with ICD), a Graphical User Interface (Windows, Linux, Android), and vehicle/sensor Simulator. Subsequently used the Integration Base to integrate 2 UxVs (AOS' Kelpie and a Prime's RHIB) and 2 sensor systems (FLIR radar and AIS). • The Proof-of-Concept system (of systems) was successfully demonstrated during Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group's Autonomous Warrior 2018.

iOPFOR---------• Final responsibility for the SDLC and management of iOPFOR - a distributed system (of systems) that coordinates and operates static targets, wheeled robots, and battlefield effects using agent teams. iOPFOR is used by the Australian Defence Force to practice tactical skills in live-fire training. Lead a team of 3 software and 1 hardware engineer(s).• Formalized requirements, designed and developed embedded devices for (1) Interface Box (target control/monitoring), (2) HeadMount (high-precision trainee tracking), (3) RTK Base Station, (4) Remote System Stop (safety mechanism) using the Raspberry Pi as the main computing unit. Established a generic software infrastructure for the aforementioned devices and implemented their control software. Field-tested, demonstrated, and deployed iOPFOR.• As a result of various demonstrations over the last 4 years, the project funding was continued. 20 Units of the Interface Box have been operational since 2017 and 40 more will be produced in 2021. The HeadMount is currently being iterated for production. Initial Operational Capability of iOPFOR is expected in 21H1 (due to pandemic-related travel restrictions).

Improved software and database design, to systematically refactor implementation for the next major version of Oaky (PHP5/Laravel). Re-organized and documented development process & environment.

Manter 7.0------------• Full SDLC responsibility for the development of multi-platform industrial weigher software, leading a team of 3 developers. Introduced SCRUM, and acted as SCRUM Master.• Established well-documented software framework based on C++/Qt framework, including Object sharing & RPC ('shadow model') module, Physical Component Abstraction Layer, Hardware Abstraction Layer, and Model-driven GUI generation.• Reduced code-base size by approximately 70-80%, increased code comment percentage by factor 2, w.r.t. the previous software version. Reduced CPU consumption by 70%.Manter ERP (TAWIN)-----------------------• Initiated the project and supervised 2 consultants in rebuilding Manter's key software system (ERP), while retaining existing data. Acted as intermediary between a team of 2 developers and 8 key users during development (40+ end users).• Was involved in interpretation, remodeling & migration of databases (MSSQL, C#), formalized requirements, resolved design flaws, performed principal testing, and organized user acceptance tests.• The deployed software improved performance approximately by > 10x, reduced the number of crashes by > 95% and guarantees data consistency.

Manter Remote Machine Access------------------------------------• Designed, implemented, and integrated a remote machine access system, to provide remote support to customers worldwide.• This involved software components on a server and routers (programmed in C), an extension of machine control software, and GUI (C++/Qt framework, x-platform). Extended networking components to support multiple connections, and proxy old UDP-based protocols, to support older machinery. Ported GUI to Android, to offer new services to customers, and ease maintenance for service mechanics (now part of their toolbox).• This system became a default sales option and was deployed on 80+ machines and in early 2015.

• Performed adaptive maintenance on a multi-tier software system developed during my MSc. internship. The system converts verbose (non-graphical) course evaluation results into a compact, graphical form using the BIRT framework (JSP). • The system is used by the Computer Science and Mathematics departments and is intended to be applied faculty-wide.
