Ave Bie is a distinguished leader in public utilities and corporate governance, bringing extensive experience from both the private and public sectors. She currently serves as a Director of WEC Energy Group and is an active member of its Audit Committee. Ave has a notable history of leadership and influence in the energy sector, most recently as a Director of the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) until April 2024. During her 15-year tenure at NYISO, she played an important Board role in managing New York’s electric grid and competitive wholesale markets. She served as Chair and Vice Chair of the Board and chaired several key committees, including the Governance Committee and the Commerce & Compensation Committee. She also served as the Madison office managing partner.Ave previously served as the Chair of the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, where she oversaw major aspects of the state’s public utility industry, including rates, regulations, transmission, infrastructure, and environmental impact analysis. Her contributions to the advancement of competitive markets and deployment of new technologies have made her a nationally recognized and respected figure in the field of public utilities.
