About Ricardo Avelino

I am a researcher, engineer, and code developer interested in solving complex problems in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Industry.I am PhD graduate from ETH Zurich, where I received the ETH Medal for outstanding doctoral dissertation. Previously, I graduated with an M.Sc. in Structural Engineering at École des Ponts Paristech (ENPC) awarded the Prix Betancourt and the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship and a B.Sc. at the University of São Paulo (USP).I have acquired 5+ years of experience in academia and engineering across Brazil, France, Switzerland, and the United States, I have developed and implemented new tools and algorithms to design efficient low-carbon structures and preserve masonry heritage buildings. My current research interests include combining augmented reality and structural analysis to improve the preservation of existing structures and developing optimisation and AI-informed frameworks leading to better designs.
