• Created a mini version of restricted list checking for all users within the firm. The user enters a ticker and the tool returns what restricted lists, if any, the ticker is on. This widget sits in the Windows Task Tray.
• This tool allows the users (traders especially) to easily determine what is on the firm’s restricted lists without interrupting the Compliance Department’s work day.
• This saves both the user and the Compliance department time and loss of focus from their task at that time.
• Being able to check for restricted list violations pre-trade further reduced violations of the restricted lists. This and the service mentioned above both drastically reduced the need to put violation trades into the.

• Architected, designed, built and support a service that checks the day’s trades against the firm’s restricted lists for violations. At the time, Compliance officers were manually matching the day’s trade file against.
• This service saved users hours of overtime at the end of the day matching trades against all the firm’s restricted lists (currently over twenty). Human error was eliminated for all intents and purposes.
• The data architecture also allowed the Compliance Department to go from maintaining four restricted lists to over twenty. This gave the users the ability to create more granular restricted lists: “Gray” (warning).
• After gathering requirements from users, architected, designed, built and supported a service that periodically checks trades during the trading day to determine if any of the rules created for the alerts engine have.
• The current day’s trades are built upon the starting positions loaded into the service at the start of the trading day.
