“Everyone can use help every now and then”, that’s what I tell myself every time I feel the need to reach out for help. Social Work has empowered me to help those within the criminal justice system, to give them a voice when they need it the most. I am a huge believer that by being able to be an advocate for others within the system, it helps me dismantle the system. This belief enables my drive within my career in defense social work. My name is Darilynn, I recently graduated with my Master’s in social work in May 2020. Since then, I have been committed to providing concrete services, which includes, individual therapy, clinical documentation, and linkage to mental health referrals to those who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. My mission is to support those individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. PROFESSIONAL CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:▪ Stand on record in court during bail hearings to make requests on behalf of clients.▪ Conducted individual counseling and group counseling sessions to youth and families with criminal justice involvement.▪ Facilitated supervised visits between non-custodial parents and their children to present written reports to court for open domestic violence cases in family and criminal court.▪ Participated in intake, assessment, treatment planning, and linkage of participants with mental health and/or substance abuse disorders, with medical treatment providers and community-based services.
