As a student athlete, I commit to 20 hours a week of training/meetings and competitions throughout the school year. I also commit time engaging in the community with my team, attending student athlete sanctioned events and meeting fans! Being a student athlete has taught me many skills such as balancing my time between both athletics and school, hard work, discipline and receiving and implementing feedback to improve my performance.

As a gymnastics coach, I trained kids in gymnastics classes who were looking to progress their skill level. I learned how to address and give corrections to kids, while making sure they stayed safe. I gained skills from this job such as attention to detail, communication with the head coaches about where the kids were at and how their skills were progressing, active listening, goal setting, and positivity/encouragment.

I worked for my local park district at our community pool, where I helped overlook and manage services at the pool. I was in charge of watching children on the pool deck, managing the slides and recreational play areas for the children, and communicating with lifeguards and managers. I also cleaned and maintained the building. I learned about the importance of being timely, attentive, and alert so that I could make sure everyone stayed safe in the pool.
