Mr. Avery provides subject matter expertise in the design and deployment of connected and automated vehicle (CV/AV) systems, and insight into the impact of these technologies on transportation systems. prior to joining AECOM, he implemented AI/ML solutions for autonomous vehicle and back-office applications at GM, and he spent more than a decade at Southwest Research Institute® (SwRI®) where he worked to develop new business areas with commercial and government clients in the areas of autonomous and cooperative vehicle applications, and collaborative capabilities among unmanned vehicle systems. His areas of expertise include cooperative vehicle systems and architectures, agent-based modeling and simulation techniques with particular focus on decentralized control architectures, and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT). He applies his skills in the research and development of novel engineering solutions to complex systems with nonlinear behavior.
