Job functions:Supports UW in assessing risks by executing hazard analysis, risk assessments and technical loss investigations.Desktop reviews for control of risk quality and consistency.Prepare survey schedules, loss statistics and to study the overall profitability of certain accounts and to provide sound input in formulating the underwriting terms and conditions, as and when required.Technical capabilities/ knowledge:Identify fast burning or unusual types of construction.Identify and evaluate construction deficiencies (e.g. structural corrosion, deteriorated roof coverings, inadequate fire walls and fire doors).Witness and evaluate fire pump and hydrant flow tests.Witness and evaluate sprinkler system and alarm tests.Evaluate complex sprinkler systems including ESFR, large drop, and extended coverage sprinklers.Identify and assess protection of material hazards (e.g. dust, flammable liquids, flammable gases, explosives, molten material, oxidizers) and process hazards (e.g. ammonia refrigeration, fuel fired equipment, hot oil systems, hydraulic systems).Conduct new construction review including building details, sprinkler systems and water supplies.Conduct loss investigations to determine cause, contributing factors and develop loss lessons.Develop loss estimates (PML, EML).
