I am a senior at Clemson University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in packaging science, and I absolutely love it! I am so grateful to Clemson and this program for providing so many opportunities for its students. Through it, I have become a member of our Packaging Science Club, which hosts weekly meetings with industry professionals, gives us insight as to what all is possible with a packaging degree, and is a great way for us to get to know everyone in the major. I have also been able to participate in and volunteer for events such as Pack Jam and the Sonoco Fresh Conference, both of which involve networking with a large variety of company representatives, as well as professors and students visiting from other schools. During my sophomore year, I worked in one of Clemson’s food packaging labs, and I helped conduct thermal processing studies, accelerated shelf life testing, and performed regular retort maintenance. Recently, I started my co-op with Wells Enterprises as a packaging engineer, and it has been the best experience so far. In this role, I work with plant supervisors to set up product and package test runs, approve packaging artwork, and get to collaborate with peers from all our business groups to develop new projects. In my free time, I love to read, hike, watch movies, and try new foods.
