Profile bio

About Avery Taylor

In my first two and a half years with CLEAResult Consulting, I have begun developing skills in conducting site verification visits, large-scale M&V project analysis, tools development and programming, energy modeling foundations, and have participated in 4 6-month mentorship cohorts with CLEAResult Empowering Women (CREW) - a group which aims to empower women and our allies within CLEAResult. I've also gained additional experience leading a small team of co-workers and interns on a New Construction project, which involved coordination, milestones, and regular check-ins to zero in on the items that are needed for our team's success. I have found that my years as a student crew leader and culinary team leader in the Dining Commons at Penn State has aided in my ability to work with diverse teams (different ages, backgrounds, and competing interests) has helped with ensuring the success of this particular task. Prior to my working for CLEAResult, while I attended Penn State's University Park Campus, I gained experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC with my two-year co-op with the Office of the Physical Plant where I assisted in Demand Response efforts.I've also gained hands-on experience in the project development of on-shore and off-shore wind farms through the Department of Energy and National Renewable Energy Lab's Collegiate Wind Competition. My participation in the Collegiate Wind Competition led me to achieve the Cleanie Award for Collegiate Excellence in 2021. While working on each of the year-long competition teams, both as a team member and team leader, I gained experience in sharing knowledge through K12 outreach as a part of the Connection Creation Competition, working between sub-teams to complete deliverables, and as well as through my internship with REPowering Schools (a 501c3 organization under the US Department of Energy). Through this experience, I've learned that learning is often best experienced as a two-way street and that everyone has something to teach/learn. I've used this principle in the other areas of the Collegiate Wind Competition and my personal and professional life by learning different viewpoints and welcoming flexibility. During the competition, flexibility in our processes for the design, analysis, and research for each project allowed our team to excel and cover new topics, even changing significantly from one year to the next. Through these experiences, I have found comfort in knowledge and learning from the experiences of others, and I strive to continue this journey each day.
