I picked this tough role up to make some money over the summer before my sophomore year. Little did I know, the job would be harder than I thought it would be. Die casting is a metal casting that involves turning aluminum into its molten state and then molding it into parts by using high-pressure machines. In this role, I had to learn to run a diecast machine by myself, and potentially fix the machine if there was a small issue. After the machine molds the parts, they get sent down a production line where I had to operate a press to ensure that it was the correct shape. It was loud, hot, and humid in the factory and the metal parts always seemed to give me a burn. However, those days in the factory taught me very good lessons such as having to wake up early to be working by 7 and making sure that my products were up to the top quality. Lastly this job taught me to enjoy the parts outside of work way more than I had been.

The role of a barista has a lot of multitasking involved. For instance, while making someone's drink order, you may need to attend to the drive-through and take someone else's order at the same time. There may also be a food order that needs to be taken out of the oven while you're on dish duty or cleaning the tables. The cycle of doing many jobs at once may last for hours at a time, or not at all depending on how the rush is for that day. You never know how your day is going to do until it's going already.
