Clinical Clerical Assistant - Diagnostic Imaging
CurrentThe Clinic Clerical Assistant provides clerical support for reception; new referrals processing and information management; and patient administrative services, and performs other duties consistent with the job classification as required.Reception• Greet patients, visitors and staff, directing them to appropriate personnel and/or destination/room, providing assistance as required• Register patients, confirming/validating patient demographic, insurance (including OHIP) and other required information as appropriate.• Explain hospital/department policy and procedures to patients, visitors and staff as necessary (including infection prevention and control)• Answer the telephone, sends/received faxes, responding to enquiries within scope of authority, or, directing to most appropriate person.• Take, prioritize and relay messages for staff and/or patients. Locates staff, pages healthcare professionals as requiredNew referrals processing and information management• Receive and log incoming referrals, review for completion, follow up as required• Create and maintain charts. Ensure required forms are received, completed correctly and put into patient file• Enter patient information and appointments into required databases, updates with appointment and other medical information• Prepare and update patient charts with lab reports, test results and other pertinent information. Scan and copy chart and other information as requiredPatient Administrative Services• Liaise with internal departments and external healthcare facilities to book/cancel tests, appointments.Book interpreters for patients as needed• Prepare clinic lists, identify orders needed as required• Transcribe diagnostic reports, assessments, minutes and correspondence• Respond to and prepare written correspondence in reply to requests for patient information from external institutions within scope of authority• Prepare CDs and other patient information for review by the healthcare professional
