Immigration Specialist
CurrentOversee and support a foreign national population of 600+ within the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program of Research Scholars, Short-Term Scholars and Student Interns📌 Analyze complex immigration matters and effectively communicate solutions to Department Administrators, Managers and Talent Acquisition team within the health system📌 Assess and recommend visa eligibility of prospective international personnel by providing expert guidance📌 Prepare and submit 60 annual TN visa petitions and provide overflow support for E-3 visa petitions and J-1 Alien Physician programs📌 Develop and administer individual orientation sessions for new foreign national employees while providing ongoing support (including how to maintain status, employment, travel, visa renewal, change of status and resolve any issues that escalate)📌 Create opportunities for cultural engagement by hosting monthly seminars, holiday events, employee appreciation events and visa specific webinars📌 Maintain compliance, confidentiality and data integrity of all essential records, including I-9 and E-Verify📌 Advocate for the foreign national population by liaising with government agencies including USCIS, DOS, CBP, ICE, SSA and congressional representatives📌 Provide timely immigration related updates to key stakeholders about any regulatory changes, travel restrictions, governmental policy updates and consular delays📌 Serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) in SEVIS and Training Program Liaison (TPL) with ECFMG
