Avi offers counseling with a spiritual grounding. His work is similar to traditional psychotherapy, and helps people engage more intimately with a wider spectrum of experience, address anxiety and depression, improve their agency and effectiveness in the world, and develop and maintain their own spiritual practice. Avi completed his Master of Science Degree in spirituality, consciousness and transpersonal psychology. His dissertation focuses on how practicing therapists and counselors employ a spiritual worldview and spiritual methods in their clinical practice.

As part of his post-graduate work, Avi studied relational and systemic counseling methods, with a focus on narrative therapy and emotionally focused therapy; he conducted research into the intersection of theologically-based pastoral counseling techniques with those of empirically-supported relational psychotherapy.

Avi advised clients on methods to reduce taxes overall – and to minimize tax risks – in sales of assets and equities, mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations. At the state level, he advised as to state and local income taxation, nexus and residency issues, and sales and use taxes. Avi represented taxpayers in audits, controversies, and litigation with the IRS and with state tax authorities.
