Teach an Advisory of 17 students, following them for all four years of High School as part of the Big Picture model, which aims to create personalized learning environments that work in tandem with the real world of the greater community. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are days in which learning is facilitated through a combination of whole class instruction, small group coaching and individual one-on-one meetings. Tuesdays and Thursdays are focused on coaching students through the internship search process and visiting those internship sites once they were obtained.• Work closely with students, families, and mentors to create in-depth, authentic projects which are rigorous and grounded in the attainment of real world skill building and school competencies.• Collaborate with students to create individualized Learning Plans - living documents that they use to set long and short term goals driven by their areas of interests and academic goals.• Coordinate internship opportunities for students working in the greater Seattle area including Starbucks, the Pacific Science Center, the Tukwila Police Department, The Crocodile Venue, and others. Responsible for set-up and management including intern-mentor meetings, expectations, assessment and guiding project development at internship sites.• Guide students through every step of the college application and running start process including test preparation, registration, scholarship application, class selection and individual tutoring once they are on campus.

Taught English Language Arts at an Alternative High School.● Created standards based curriculum and daily lesson plans that helped students meet their academic requirements.● Experienced with using online learning management systems that allowed me to adapt, document, track and deliver educational content to students.

Co-created (and then taught) Big Picture Middle School. Developed the design of the school from the ground up. Created innovative two year curriculum which integrates math, science, humanities and other content into comprehensive units. Included helping students connect with real-world math and science literacy such as teaching how to evaluate quantitative problems, gathering, interpreting, and analyzing information and student voice and authentic assessment which includes exhibitions, portfolios and student lead presentations of learning.• Demonstrated ability to meet the needs of the whole student with emphasis on incorporating non cognitive variables as a method of setting goals and assessing student growth academically and personally on an individual basis.• Integrated technology into every phase of planning and instruction in addition to sharing with students how to do the same with their own work.• Promoted students’ critical thinking skills and in-depth research through their independent interest-based projects.
