- A German Automotive Supplier needed assistance increasing run rate efficiency for a new suite of products- Firstly, the current run rate, product lines, and scheduling profiles were analysed to determine largest sources of inefficiency- I used this information to take large data files, clean up the data, and analyse these trends. Three main points were discovered through the analysis: switching products caused larged delays due to their different manufacturing requirement settings, around 80% of production was made up of 15% of products and a large number of smaller, single run products were choking line efficiency, and finally there was no overarching schedule which did not stretch beyond 24 hours- I created two models one which was predictive and was able to predict with 3% accuracy the delays on the product line when the current day schedule was set, and secondly a predictive manufacturing line model which prioritised similar products, removed single run low volume products, and created schedules which ran over 3-4 days at a time- This was the key factor which helped overcome some traditional mindsets in the company and setup a pilot programme. The model was able to predict a 15% increase in efficiency, which was replicated with the pilot programme.- The customer was able to increase profits with the implementation of the programme by $32Mn/year
