Avijit Mitra, a Chartered Accountant by education, has had an illustrious career with the Tata Group. He joined the Group as an Internal Audit assistant in Tata Global Beverages Ltd (erstwhile Tata Tea Ltd) and worked for 9 years in various finance roles in the company, gaining experience in key aspects of the tea production and marketing business. In 1999, he was transferred to The Indian Hotels Co Ltd. For the next 6 years, he worked in various finance roles in the Taj Group of Hotels and also headed the Central Materials Group for two years, setting up a supply chain structure that leveraged chain-wide volumes for procurement cost optimisation. Avijit has been one of the founding members of Infiniti Retail Ltd as the Chief Financial Officer. During this period, he has been actively involved in crafting the strategic direction of the business, including Croma’s key customer propositions.
