Test Development EngineerUci Spacecraft Thermal Management Systems Aug 2022 - Jun 2023Irvine, California, United StatesDuring my time with STMS, I worked on validating thermocouple accuracy for vacuum chamber use. This included executing steady state temperature tests using a customized copper box. The first steady state temperature test measured the temperature of the copper box itself to see how it handles the heating power of the TC Lab heaters. The goal of performing steady state temperature testing on the copper box was to see if there was an unusual temperature gradient on the copper box when the heaters are powered on. The second test measured the temperature of the backplate to ensure the test samples will be uniformly heated. The goal of performing a steady state temperature test on the backplate was to see if the temperature of the backplate was uniform or gradient. It is critical that the temperature of the backplate is uniform to ensure the smart window and electrophoretic display will be uniformly heated during the calorimetric emissivity test. -
