I am on a mission to build empowered zero-waste communities throughout the Maldives. We aim to build thought leadership in how small island countries can manage their waste and limit its negative impacts on the local and global ecosystems. This is being done through programs which encourage the use of alternatives to single-use plastics, co-creating zero-waste solutions for every island and creating environmental stewardship in communities.

Every year for the last ten years, around 1,500 talented young people from more than 190 countries have met at the One Young World Summit. The summit’s goal is to support young visionaries between the ages of 18 and 30 and help them connect in order to develop solutions to global problems.Audi Environmental Foundation with its vision to support youth is creating solutions for global problem of climate change is therefore collaborating with One Young World to offer scholarships to 16 inspiring young leaders to attend next year’s One Young World Summit 2021 in Munich, Germany.

Facilitating innovation in digital education sector of Europe by introducing design thinking principles, innovation tools and information on opportunities of entrepreneurship to the community of practitioners of digital education in Europe. Further, I work with a program which equips innovators with skills to help them find digital solutions to reduce energy usage in buildings, transport and utilities in Germany. Both the programs are implemented with support from national and supranational entities.

Maldives

At Soneva, I contribute to everything waste to wealth for Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani, the two private islands under the Soneva brand. As part of the initiatives, our focus is to introduce as many sustainable consumption and production practices as possible. This leads to reducing the carbon footprint on our purchases as well as improving the lifecycle of the material/waste which is already on the island. These conscious practices have helped us recycle over 92% of our waste.This philosophy has guided us to great things, some examples are:- The first and only Glass Recycling Studio in collaboration with leading artists from all over the world.- Home grown mushrooms of 10 varieties.- The island grown coconuts being used for cold-pressed 100% organic oil, cocopeat, fibre etc-Carbon efficient charcoal oven with upto 70% less carbon emission.-100% composting of all over food waste in a natural way over the 6 weeks(we don't endorse 24 hours composting).- 2 Gardens producing herbs, greens and fruits for our kitchens.- And the latest one coming up is Aluminum and Plastics foundry for art pieces.And the biggest solar farm over the whole Eco Centro providing clean energy.We continue to try and bring in innovation and creativity to locally fulfill our needs and convert waste into meaningful products using permaculture and regenerative farming principles.
