At ICCT, I am working on the evaluation of low-emission technologies and alternate fuel pathways for heavy-duty vehicles using vehicle simulation and modelling scenarios. The segment in focus consumes around 54% of Diesel consumption from road transportation. The present work will help the HDV segment in contributing towards reducing air pollution, carbon emissions as well as the crude oil import dependence in India.

As a programme officer in "Climate Change and Energy Division", I provided technical research in energy, policy, energy and biodiversity relation to move toward greener planet with low carbon development. In addition to proving inputs to RE Scaleup, Energy access and E-Rickshaw deployment projects I worked exclusively on:1. Low Carbon Transport Roadmap for India: In this 2 year project with FICCI, I worked and developed the chapters on Urban and Rural Transport.2. Air pollution in Gurugram: The status of Air quality in Gurugram, Policy Landscape and Impact of COVID lockdown.3. Sustainable Space Heating: Project on evaluating the emissions from space heating in Himalayan region and mitigation potential using sustainable technological solutions in short and long term.

The 6 month internship at the Indo-German Solar Partnership's PV Rooftop Project was a perfect blend for working in technical,commercial as well as social development because of following components:1) Capacity building and promotion of local entrepreneurship in renewable energy by organising trainings and workshops.2) Research and analysis of policy framework in Renewable energy technology for promotion of solar rooftop power plants3) Interacting and coordinating with ministry and Donor organizations for policy recommendations and strategy development.4) Ranking of smart cities in order of attractiveness for solar rooftop business potential for aggregation based model - Like EESL and LED bulbs

This Internship was under a collaboration of National Innovation Foundation and Honeybee Network, funded by UNESCO. It aimed at developing grassroots innovations for rural problems. My challenge was to make a low cost refrigerator which can work off grid. During the internship:1.) I worked on understanding the problem and interacted with user by field visits. Attended various lectures by prominent lecturers in human centric design. Various technologies were brainstormed.2.) The prototype was designed and fabricated in the National Innovation Foundation’s Lab. It worked on thermoelectric cooling using peltier effect. The energy source was 300W solar panel.

The motive of this Internship was to develop skills in programming for analyzing and solving various engineering problems. Two parallel paths were followed:1.) Python programming language and its various scientific packages were studied and used for solving Engineering Problems.2.) An open Source mathematical and scientific software tool: Scilab was used to solve problems in various engineering domains like: Electrical Transmission, Thermodynamics etc
