About Aaron M. Virshup

I'm a biochemical physicist, product owner, and a software developer. Driven by a passion for translating basic research to industrial impact, I work to accelerate science with the transformative power of modern computing. I develop both open source and proprietary software that's easy for scientists to use, straightforward for coders to extend, and enables next-generation bio/nanotechnology. Before joining Arzeda, I led molecular simulation projects at Autodesk Life Sciences, building open source design software for the next generation of nanoscience. In my academic research, I developed computational algorithms and theories for chemical library design, photochemical quantum dynamics, high-dimensional dynamical analysis, and electronic energy transfer. I received my PhD in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with Professor Todd Martinez, and did my postdoctoral research at Duke University with Professors Weitao Yang and David Beratan.Outside of work, my kids do their best to keep me busy, but whenever there's time left over, you'll probably find me hiking, skiing, or buried in overly complicated cooking projects.
