Qualitas is a real estate investment management firm focused on investing across the capital structure. The firm’s successful track record spans development, repositioning, special situations and other opportunistic investments. Qualitas is dedicated to partnering with leading real estate investors, developers and operators with a commitment to allocating its own capital alongside that of its investors. My responsibility is to oversee the ongoing monitoring, management and reporting on group operational risk, which covers all aspects of the firm’s governance structure and practices, business operating and investment management activities. In addition, I have responsibility to oversee the group’s internal control reporting (under GS007), business continuity management and cyber-risk resilience activities.

My responsibilities included management and oversight of middle and back office operations across the business, including shared services covering finance, information technology, people and performance, marketing, operational risk and compliance-related activities.

My career in Deloitte's financial services team commenced in Johannesburg, as an assurance Analyst focused on investment management, retail banking, insurance, securities trading and venture capital funds. I relocated to London at the end of 2003, where I continued my career as a team Manager focused on investment management, general insurance, consumer finance and securities trading. My journey then continued to Melbourne, where I relocated in 2005 and commenced my industry specialisation in wealth management. From 2005, I specialised in providing assurance and advisory services to the funds management industry, with clients in Melbourne and Sydney. My clients included well-known fund managers, providers of outsourced responsible entity/trustee services, custodians, administrators, registry providers, financial planners and platforms. My exposure to investment products covered equities, fixed income, direct property, hedge funds, offshore feeder-master funds, structured products, exchange-traded funds, infrastructure funds and agricultural trusts. I delivered professional services in relation to statutory financial reporting, compliance plan audits, internal control reporting (GS007), specialist financial services compliance audits (including AFSL), unit pricing reviews, performance return attestation, and consulting on funds management operating and governance structures. In addition to my industry focus, my key responsibilities included team leadership, project management, relationship building, board and audit committee communication and reporting, presenting, delivery of technical training and ownership of a number of key pieces of thought leadership and industry events, notably Deloitte's six-monthly 'Funds Management Breakfast Forums' and 'Model Managed Investment Scheme Financial Reports'.My progression through this global consulting firm included the promotion to Director in December 2007 and Principal in June 2013.
