* Worked with a small team on a complete rewrite of the product's core that makes decisions based on market forces. The aim was to improve a number of non-functional aspects like performance, scalability, readability and testability.* Was instrumental in the design, implementation, testing, benchmarking and optimization of the new engine.* Did the first (to my knowledge) theoretical treatment of the underlying algorithm to identify input classes where it will provably succeed or provably fail.

The first month was the basic training, while for the following 5 months I worked with a small team in the 2nd office of the Hellenic Army General Staff Battalion. The job included, among other things, occasional development, database management and technical support.

These should not be mistaken for academic ones: I made sure I challenge myself each time and consequently the constraints met (be they on performance, code quality, or feature set) were more stringent than those typically found on academic or even industry projects.Moreover the skills I had to develop transcended those of a software engineer and went halfway into the engineering manager and product manager domains. (e.g. I had to get outdoors, get people to try the software and gather feedback)
