Researcher by day, storyteller by night.About me: -I have completed my Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate, and currently working as a postdoctoral fellow in USA. I have always aspired to broaden my "field of expertise". I have done my Master's internship in "Neurobiology", gained expertise in "Bacterial cell biology" while doing doctoral research, and currently steering a project on "Molecular mechanism of lipid transport" as a postdoc.- I have taught in community schools and colleges for 15 years (both in India and USA). - I would fight tooth and nail defending my favorite movies, books and Indian cricket team.1. What do I do? and why do I do?- I believe scientific research is like writing a good story, where you read already published materials to get novel ideas and apply them to support your narrative. The only difference is, you have to imagine to create a plot; whereas to publish a paper, you have to imagine your hypothesis, work it out on a bench and reveal the "truth". So that's my job. I ask scientific questions, figure out the answers, establish them with my data, and tell the story to everyone. And I am an excellent storyteller. 2. What else do I do? - Well, I am someone, whom you call "Jack of all trades, master of some". - I have been a creative head of the Entrepreneurship cell (EntIISc) in my graduate school.- I am a member of the Toastmasters international club (UAB) where I am pursuing my path in presentation mastery and storytelling.- I perform stand ups, produce podcasts, write for printed and audio stories (in Bengali).- When I am doing none of the above, I paint, read (a lot), sing and play chess.3. Something I feel proud about?- There is no shame to admit, I have struggled in each chapter of my career. There always has been a "lag phase" before my growth saw a logarithmic progress. But with passing chapter, that "lag phase" has been reduced significantly. I have learnt fast, applied faster.4. Something I am still trying to learn?- Social networking.
