I've been lucky enough to run a family business with my brother for over 20 years. It has certainly been an exciting journey full of ups and downs, interesting projects and wonderful people. We manufacture 3D printing filament right here in the UK and we also offer 3D printing services. I'm excited about our move into 3D printing because it is new and dynamic. I love that it is going to change our lives in ways we have yet to imagine. I still remember the day our first 3D printer arrived - a Makerbot 2X. We had to wait 10 weeks for it! All work stopped as everyone gathered around it to watch something amazing come into existence - a humble nut and bolt. Our main focus is on manufacturing 3D printer filament but we'll 3D print something for our customers using our services. Before 3D printing, we developed a new polymer material which mimics glass but does not cause injury when broken. It is used in Breakglass. Before we came along, the "break the glass in emergency" was made from real glass. Not very safe to break in an emergency! We changed the transport industry who now use Safegass breakglass as standard. We also make hammer boxes and other sundry items for the Rail industry. Our customers are located in the UK, all over Europe, Canada and even in the Far East.My other passion is Public Speaking. I confess I am an amateur but I learn and practise my skill by being an active member in Linlithgow Speakers, part of Toastmasters International. I help others in the club and outside by organising and being involved with local speaking events.
