Assistant Engineer
CurrentAs a Production Engineer at Crescent Steel and Allied Products Limited, I specialize in the steel forming process for manufacturing API Specification 5L spiral steel pipes (PSL-1 and PSL-2) used in oil and gas transmission lines. My responsibilities include calculating and implementing forming parameters, such as roll bending angles and pipe pitch, to achieve precise dimensions and desired mechanical properties. I ensure the smooth operation and calibration of forming and welding equipment, particularly for submerged arc welding (SAW), to produce high-quality welds and minimize welding defects in compliance with API 5L or client-specific quality standards.Additionally, I focus on optimizing production workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce material waste, and initiate sustainability projects. I, along with production team, strive to meet stringent quality standards by adhering to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements. My role also involves analyzing and adjusting forming processes to ensure uniform wall thickness, pipe roundness, and compliance with international standards, thereby contributing to the reliable performance of steel pipes in diverse pipeline applications.I also prepare detailed reports that monitor production metrics, including the quantity of steel produced, scrap generated, raw material consumption, and water usage for hydrostatic and ultrasonic testing of steel pipes. Moreover, I contribute to sustainability reporting on ERP sustainability portal by calculating raw material and water reuse, achieving a targeted 99% water reuse rate during hydrostatic testing.
