Affect While Educating is a limited liability company (formerly AWE, a sole proprietorship) serving Houston's West side: 290, Beltway 8, 59/69 region and surrounding communities including Cypress, Fulshear, Katy, Richmond, Sugar Land and West Houston areas. More specifically, elementary and middle school students are coached in reading and essay writing (STAAR prep), high school students on Critical Reading and Writing (ACT/ISEE/PSAT/SAT/STAAR prep) and college admission essays, and graduate students on research assignments. Since study skill development is crucial to learning, the AWEducating approach is a holistic version of Bloom's Taxonomy merged with Vygotsky's zone of proximal development. In this way, coaching and tutoring encompasses not only the cognitive and psycho-motor domains, but also the affective domain of learning (appreciations, attitudes, interests and values) while facilitating internalization.For over 25 years, my work has served the needs of the educational community with 18+ years coaching for the STAAR, ISEE, ACT, PSAT, and SAT. My focus lies on using strategies that target AFFECT and VISUAL SPATIAL INTELLECT with the aim to produce authentic learning experiences.

My teaching assignment included teaching 5th & 6th grade English language arts and social studies and 5th grade religion. My students provided real insights during SMART Board recordings, (like discussions on 'A Wrinkle in Time'​). They also created interesting narrative plot diagrams and a variety of creative book reports. Several projects throughout the year included Benjamin Franklin "invention" bifocal glasses, thematic Statue of Liberty displays and Altered Notebooks.

My teaching assignment included teaching 5th - 8th grade mathematics and 5th & 6th grade religion. Through a UH STEM outreach initiative, teacher assistants from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction integrated robotics into our math classes. The student population at Holy Ghost includes inner-city children. Holy Ghost School is known for cultivating Catholic wisdom into the educational experience.

Sugar Land, Cinco Ranch, Houston, Tx

As Director, I guided program development and implementation by assisting with oversight of school and university collaborations in Cinco Ranch and Sugar Land. As Program Manager, I administered and implemented the UH College of Education QUEST (Quality Urban Education for Students and Teachers) EC-6 teacher education program in Sugar Land. During this assignment, I supervised program support staff, coached for presentations of QUEST to junior college students, acted as professional role model for incoming and aspiring teacher candidates and advanced enrollment from 8 students to 154 students.As Adjunct Instructor, I taught CUIN 4303: Second Language Acquisition (undergraduate course)Virtual Tools: Blackboard - developed and delivered resources, quizzes, and mid/final examsEvaluations: 5-scale weighted range 1–15 (Scored 14.3-15.0) mean ranges.
