(SYN, ACK)Thank you for initiating a connection and welcome! Before you (FIN) let me tell you a bit more about myself. I am driven by why. For me it is not enough to know THAT something happened, I want to know WHY it happened. This applies not only to incidents and root cause investigation but also to the tools that I use. I am not satisfied to accept a tools output at face value. I want to know how the tool works and why it gave me the results that it did. My inquisitive nature certainly influenced my undergraduate studies in law enforcement and computer forensics. The challenge of being presented with a case and having to peel back the layers to answer the why was right up my alley. This also led me to identify some areas which needed strengthening. While personal computers had been a part of my life, corporate technology was an area where my technical depth was lacking. The consistent feedback I received from those in the field was to work at a data center. Enter Expedient. Day one I was in over my head and I loved it. I was connecting to switches, firewalls, Windows boxes, Linux boxes and just soaking everything in. As my experiences grew, I began to share what I had learned with others. This opened even more opportunities as I mentored and lead those around me. Though I was still only an analyst, they soon formalized my leadership position with a promotion to Shift Lead and then Supervisor. Learning and growth should never stop, and they certainly did not for me. As a Supervisor I began to directly interact with clients. By identifying gaps in documentation and training which negatively impacted the client experience, I was able to create remediation plans which improved their overall support experience. It did not take long for me to transition to the Client Care team where my primary focus continues to be supporting the client experience. Outside of work I would read stories of businesses falling victim to cyber attacks and the investigator inside me would always ask “why?” This question propelled me to immerse myself in cybersecurity as I pursued my master’s degree. My coursework exposed me not only to the technical aspects of cybersecurity, but also to the business process and administrative side. With my foundation established, I am excited to expand my knowledge and strengthen my skills as I relentlessly pursue my next “Why?”
