Director Of Museum Shop
Took the initiative to create a retail shop featuring 70+ Rhode Island, regional and exhibiting artists at the Newport Art Museum. Located in the tourist destination of Newport, RI, a curated a selection of original artwork, handcrafted jewelry, fine accessories, and various gift items is available at affordable to luxurious price points to satisfy a diverse visitorship and member-base. Working with established artists, a consignment contract allowing a fair portion of the retail price going directly to the artists with the Museum's cut being recirculated into the overall operating budget was conceived and accepted by both parties. A point-of-sale system was constructed and implemented to accept and track all forms of payment while updating inventory, and thus consignment cuts, in a clear cut and easily trackable system. Working with artists to decided appropriate price points for their pieces, I visually merchandised the shop to find common themes between different mediums and prices to create a welcoming and fun shop for members and visitors to browse and not feel intimidated by our status of a Bellevue Avenue Mansion, but for the shop to be a welcoming space for all. I worked to expand the awareness of the Museum Shop via social media highlighting consigning artists, creating connections between featured exhibitions and shop selections, targeting marketing during holidays, and seeking out local publications to feature the shop during holiday gift articles. Primarily staffed by volunteers, I am continually hiring and training a group of retirees to successfully complete sales on the iPad Point-of-Sale SQUARE application, tracking inventory, cash and card sales (swipe, chip & tap). I worked to assure confidence in the electronic system and expand their knowledge of items available so they may educate interested customers on specific art techniques in addition to general knowledge about the museum's historic facility and current exhibitions with a print manual.
Director Of Rental Events
As Director of Rental Events I worked closely with clients, caterers, wedding planners and third-party vendors to maintain the integrity and safety of orchestrating a successful private event within the confines of a historic home and accredited art museum. Overhauling our former packaging and pricing options, our Rental Event pricing became more competitive and offerings more consistant with the wedding marketplace of Newport, Rhode Island. Working worked with vendors to ensuring the safety of our collection while ensuring the client had an event to remember, I facilitated a number of wedding ceremonies & receptions, rehearsal dinners, lectures & meetings, private dinners and 250+ guest fundraisers while ensuring the safety of the Newport Art Museum's art collection and the John N.A. Griswold House, a National Park Service Historic Landmark.
Interim Marketing Assistant
Following the departure of the Marketing Director, I focused on keeping the Museum's social media accounts up to date while increasing our visibility and audience engagement. Using Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, consistent and relevant posting about Museum events, press and community outreach increased our audience; specifically, our Instagram followers increased from 400 to over 1000, and our Facebook audience involvement increased by 53%. During the build up and following the opening of the Elizabeth Conklin Museum Shop I highlighted various artist work featured in the shop on our social media platforms, increasing awareness about the shop and engaging with the community which led to a successful opening during the holiday season for the Museum Shop. As Director of Museum Shop, I have continued assisting in the marketing department, with a primary focus on highlighting artists and raising awareness of the Museum Shop and the wide variety of work it offers.

Worked with various small businesses in Newport, RI to customize their Square POS systems to accurately track and itemize their inventory. Addressing their specific needs, I assisted an antique store in streamlining their consignment tracking process while training staff on adding items, offering discounts and maintaining their comfort with the now electronic process versus the paper tracking previously practiced. When approached by a high-end handcrafted jewelry satellite shop, I assisted with organized their item list to account for each individual item in the shop including product images allowing each receipt to include information about gemstone, metal type and the unique construction technique used in advance of the summer opening.
