The Office of Global Student Mobility at the University of Wollongong provides opportunities for over 700 UOW students to study overseas as part of their degree program; and for over 500 students from institutions around the world to study at the University of Wollongong. As a Student Mobility Assistant, I provide support for the office through administrative duties, advising, customer service and various promotional activities.Through this role I have gained experience and developed skills in the following areas. • Excellent front line customer service, through both face to face and email enquiries.• Proficient administrative skills through support for the Inbound Student and Outbound Student Coordinators.• Actively promoting the outbound mobility programs on campus through lecture presentations and information stalls.• Advisory skills through directly liaising with faculty and other university units on student mobility process, for both UOW and overseas partnering Universities and institutions.

The Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018 was an international competition that challenged university teams from across the globe to design, construct and operate solar-powered sustainable homes. Team UOW were a multi-disciplinary group of students from the University of Wollongong who entered the competition with the Desert Rose House. Team UOW placed second overall in the competition.As a member of the design and construction team, my major involvements were on the house’s “Second Skin” comprising of 25 pre-cast lightweight foam concrete modular panels. This acted as both an architectural feature and thermal & noise insulating barrier for the house. Part of my design involvement included developing the concrete mix which incorporated the use of recycled glass powder as a pozzolanic material.

My duties included:• Assisting in the care and development of residents and the smooth running of the College in an academic and social community.• Exercising discipline where required, including prompt incident reporting. • Leading and encouraging participation for the positive wellbeing program, live out loud.• Performing First Aid as required.• Supervising the residence after normal business hours and on weekends to ensure student safety, security and wellbeing.

During my time as a team member at Max Brenner, my duties included:• Overseeing the café dining area, maintaining consistent customer interaction to provide an overall satisfactory experience and handling of any issues.• Ensuring the quality of the goods produced as a Barista and serving as a waiter, were of both the customers and company’s expectations.• Active promotion of seasonal and special offers to customers, reaching individual KPI’s.• Maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the café to comply with customer and WHS standards.
