INTO is the umbrella body for the global family of national trusts that come together to share experience and resources. We support our members to grow their capacity and help develop new heritage trusts in countries where they do not currently exist. We act as a global voice for matters of common concern.INTO members join the organisation for a variety of reasons, but are united in their goal to improve the way that they look after the places in their care. In this role, I connect them to the expertise that allows them to do this, leading a small team across programmes, strategic communications and business development. Key accomplishments:- More than $3 million raised to deliver projects in partnerships with members, including c. $2 million in funding for a climate resilience project in East Africa and the Middle East;- Creation and delivery of a new partnership programme that supports interpretation at sites of enslavement: RISE;- Creation and delivery of INTO Incubator, learning programme developed for small heritage trusts interested in the NT's sustainable business model;- Oversight of major communications project leading to professionalised communications standards for INTO and a new website; and- Spokesperson for INTO in international venues.

As part of the wider Culture and Development team, my work on the Cultural Protection Fund delivers this £30 million partnership between the British Council and the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The Cultural Protection Fund supports projects in 12 countries across the wider Middle East that are affected by conflict. These projects support the economic and social development of people through working with heritage.https://www.britishcouncil.org/arts/culture-development/cultural-protection-fund Principle activities include:• Liaison and communication with partners, applicants and potential applicants to the fund and supporting their understanding of the aims of the Cultural Protection Fund• Acting as the first point of contact for potential grantees• Representing the fund and wider culture and development team at sector events• Setting up appropriate systems and processes for the smooth operation of a new Fund• Taking a leading role in the grant assessment process providing reports and recommendations to the Approvals Panel and advising on conditions and performance indicators.• Managing a case load of fund applicants, advising applicants on the development of their proposals and liaising with grant holders over the progress of their projects against agreed targets.

For this role I worked closely with the coordinator of the CER programme, providing grants to cultural heritage sites across the Global South. The Cultural Emergency Response programme provides grants to sites hit by disaster that would otherwise be threatened with destruction, acting as a cultural ambulance and aiming to attract follow-up funding to permanently secure sites in its wake.http://www.princeclausfund.org/en/programmes/cultural-emergency-response My responsibilities include: - Managing incoming applications for grants - Liaising with potential partners to guide them through the grant making process - Researching potential sites and securing second opinions on applications - Reaching out in response to disasters worldwide - Development of evaluation and criteria frameworks for the programme - Creating communications materials for the wider public - Leading on focused outreach to heritage in situations of ongoing conflict in MENA region

I work directly with the director of the programme, processing incoming applications and managing stakeholder relationships, compiling dossiers to present to the steering committee for a decision and making new contacts for second opinions. The Cultural Emergency Response programme makes allocations to disaster struck cultural heritage sites across DAC listed countries, applying emergency first aid in places where cultural heritage would otherwise be neglected and eventually destroyed.

As a consultant to the UNESCO World Heritage Site nomination of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie (New Dutch Waterline), I advise on the process of creating a strong and successful nomination dossier for this Dutch heritage site. My key areas on responsibility include:- Researching and stayting up to date on the latest UNESCO and ICOMOS policy- Drafting sections of the nomination dossier- Carrying out comprehensive historical research of other sites internationally - Advising on planning applications submitted to the nominated area in the context of preserving the Outstanding Universal Value of the site
