About Axelle Dervaux

Hi, I'm Axelle. It sounds a bit straightforward yet that is how I'll introduce myself when you meet me for the first time. I find it puts people at ease and once relaxed, they can start focusing on learning fully. I'm a trainer and training coordinator. I've been in professional training for about seven years, in various fields (French, English, PostgreSQL, Linux administration, Financial systems), roles (consultant, trainer, project database administrator, tester) and contract (temp, consultant, employee, freelance). I've always been interested in lifelong learning, I find that teaching adults is both gratifying and stimulating. Their very own culture, ideas, expertise and idiosyncrasies challenge me on a day to day basis, and on the whole, make every work day different from the next. Of course, I am not just interested in teaching, else I would not be able to immerse myself in the material needed to author content and create course-ware. I've done just that in my position where I created the material for Opendbteam's courses as well as my last position at EACEA as a consultant for IRIS. I'm also very excited by the continually evolving field of 'new technologies'. Because of this I appreciate any chance I get to work with online learning management systems: I've managed the transition between the MOOC and the Openedx training platform, as well as set up and managed our Openedx platform server for two years. Generally speaking, I enjoy my career as it allows me to watch how my student/user's knowledge and technical expertise grow so it's no wonder I myself am looking for opportunities to grow, learn, better my work environment and evolve to the next career step.My specialities include: PostgreSQL, Linux Administration, training, training coordination, social media, new technologies, HTML, CSS, Javascript, communication, needs assessment, development tools, learning management systems and Cybersecurity (the latter being a passion of mine).
