CurrentThe Department Standardization focuses on working with the relevant standards organizations such as ANNA, GLEIF and DIN/ISO on the development, issuance and maintenance of identifiers for the financial markets.As the National Numbering Agency (NNA) for Germany WM Datenservice is responsible for issuing the German Wertpapier-Kennnummer (WKN), the International Security Identification Number (ISIN), the Classification of Financial Instruments (CFI) as well as the Financial Instrument Short Name (FISN).WM Datenservice serves as Substitute Numbering Agencies (SNA) issuing identifiers for countries where no NNA exists. At present, WM Datenservice serves as SNA for 173 countries mainly in Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe.Furthermore, it is one of the founders and shareholders of the ANNA Derivatives Service Bureau (DSB). The DSB is the global issuer of ISINs and Unique Product Identifiers (UPIs) for OTC derivatives. Axel Schorn serves on the Board of the DSB as representative of WM.In addition, WM Datenservice is one largest global issuers of Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs) supplying registration, renewal and other services, and acting as the primary interface for legal entities wishing to obtain an LEI. WM Datenservice is currently accredited by GLEIF as an LOU for 169 countries as well as an issuer of LEIs for funds in 50 countries.With the Enhanced Financial Instruments Classification (EFIC), WM Datenservice offers a proprietary classification of financial instruments. The classification offers uniform criteria to compare financial instruments and has been widely adopted in the German-speaking market.WM Datenservice has been commissioned by the Securities Market Practice Group (SMPG) and Deutsche SWIFT Securities User Group (DESSUG) to assign a Corporate Action Event Reference (COAF) for the German market. COAF is a globally recognized standard for the identification of corporate actions of each national market.
