Creation and lead of the Neuromorphic Computing group, focusing on spiking neural networks and neuromorphic applications for robotics and sensing. I define the strategy and vision of the group, create ideas and projects and recruit, motivate and develop team members.➔ My role is to transfer academic research to industrial applications through publicly funded projects and direct contracts with companies. My group has gained expertise in neuromorphic control of robotic arms, fast event-based vision, edge AI, green super low power AI, human machine interaction with gestures. I present our work through prototypes in the Fortiss Labs.Results: 13 completed or running projects with large partners and SMEs (proposal success rate: 70%), academic collaborations with Intel Labs, IBM Research, TU Munich, EPFL, Univ. Within the Intel Incubator, I participated in the development of a venture as a technical business developer about a specific robotic application of neuromorphic computing. I was driving the customer research and bringing expertise for the technical strategy.Results: successful pitch, venture accepted for funding (2 out of 30).

In collaboration with the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), I was the Product Owner of the Neurorobotics Platform, which is a cloud-based robotic simulator that enables robot control with artificial brains (bio-mimetic neural networks) within the Human Brain Project.My role included: software architecture, drive a team of 15 developers distributed over Europe, define the vision and deliveries, manage change. I introduced quality and software life cycle standards, modern development tools and technologies: continuous integration, code reviewing, testing, Docker, JiraWork package leader within sub project 10 (neurorobotics) in the Human Brain Project. Responsibie for planning, reporting and budgeting (300+ men-months in 2016-2018).Results: online Neurorobotics Platform used by 500+ users, 130+ VM server infrastructure on one of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, publications.

Frewitt printing is a spin-off company of the Frewitt group, developing production machines for the pharmaceutical packaging industry, around a innovative on-glass laser marking solution.My role has been to take the responsibility of the R&D and technical IT. My domain of expertise here has been image processing, automation, C++.- Software, automation and image processing expert for syringe inspection and DataMatrix-on-glass printing and reading machines- iPhone and Android app development for 2D barcode reading (on AppStore)- Introduced agile (Scrum) project management methodology, development quality and process- Responsible for the IT infrastructure and IT subcontractorsResults: improved syringe-reading machine speed by factor of 3 (x1000)
