Qatar Vaccination Center was one of the largest vaccination centers in the world, is the result of a collaboration between Qatar Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation, and Qatar Charity, with support from the Ministry of Interior and ConocoPhillips-Qatar administering up to 25,000 doses per day.My responsibilities included overseeing the operation of 70 medical staff members who were administering vaccines to clients. My day-to-day included communication between the administration and the staff along with ensuring the vaccine doses were available and were administered correctly.Other responsibilities included taking attendance and making sure the first aiders and pharmacists are available, and morning meetings with the staff, ensuring personal protective equipment was available, along with other equipment like wheelchairs, stretchers, and Dinamaps. Finally, I also organized educational and team building sessions, with the aim of promoting best practices.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked in the ICU as a part of the COVID task force, providing support to the ICU intensivists.My responsibilities included but not limited to, rounding with the attending and fellows and multidisciplinary team including nursing staff, dietitians, clinical pharmacists and so on to provide patient care to very sick patients, updating family members and breaking bad news, documenting notes on EMR (Cerner) and coordinating care between multidisciplinary teams and plan of care under the supervision of the attending physician.

The Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Internship Program is a thirteen block (one-year), hands-on training program for new medical school graduates, to provide exposure to several major medical specialties. Intended as a bridge between medical school and residency training, the program entails four mandatory rotations (Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology) and two elective rotations. Responsibilities included but no limited to, patient care including taking history, developing a differential diagnosis and plan of care under the supervision of an attending. Another aspect is developing interpersonal and communication skills along with professionalism. Along with being trained on the EMR (Cerner), this experience has solidified my medical knowledge and has been a great introduction to my medical journey post-medical school. Finally, there’s a component of practice based learning including participating in morning reports and lectures.
