Passionate about pushing the boundaries of aerospace technology and exploring the frontiers of space. My name is Brandon Ayala, and I am a graduate student at the University of Texas at Arlington. I am pursuing my Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering as one of the first steps in my journey to become a Hispanic astronaut. My research focuses on exploring network topologies and consensus control algorithms within the realm of swarm behavior, with a particular emphasis on identifying potential network vulnerabilities and selecting the best configuration. By delving into this area, I aim to develop a comprehensive understanding of how swarm systems operate and how their behavior can be influenced and controlled through network configurations. This research not only contributes to advancing our understanding of swarm dynamics but also holds promise for applications in space exploration and beyond.I am an active member in the following organizations at UT Arlington: American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Latinx Graduate Student Association, Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). I partake in social events to connect with others that have similar interests as well as volunteering with the organizations to help our community. I am also serving as a Vice-Regional Graduate Representative for Region 5 of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. I work with several members of the FORGE committee, a SHPE Region 5 initiative, to implement a foundation for Hispanic graduate students. I hope to help build more graduate student representation in the SHPE chapters across Region 5. I am driven by a passion to inspire those around me, especially individuals from underrepresented communities in STEM. As a Hispanic engineer, I've faced challenges along the way, but I've persevered, fueled by the belief that anything is achievable with dedication and hard work. My journey serves as a testament to the notion that adversity can be overcome, and dreams can be realized through resilience and determination. I aspire to be a role model for aspiring engineers, showing them that with perseverance and commitment, they too can achieve their goals and make their dreams a reality. In this dynamic era of space exploration, the tapestry of the cosmos is ours to weave. By embracing innovation, collaboration, and resolute determination, humanity can establish a new home among the stars.
