I embarked upon my first role in the Middle East in 2017 and was delighted to be given the opportunity to lead a new service in a completely new organisation, delivering services not previously available in the region. I was responsible for overseeing all elements of the development and implementation of the young person’s wellness services including residential and non-residential programmes, assessment services and awareness programmes and some key highlights included: • Responsible for the day to day management of an international staff base and accountable for recruitment and onboarding of new staff in a wide variety of clinical specialisms• Accountable for the commissioning of high-quality mental health services and their implementation• Overall responsibility for the creation and implementation of patient care services to be delivered in line with all relevant international best practice guidelines and KPI metrics• Developed and implemented the respective a wide variety of quality checklists and policies in line with international best practice• Responsible for designing and delivering cultural awareness training to staff to ensure that international recruits were onboarded effectively to deliver high quality and culturally appropriate care• Contributed to the multidisciplinary assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care tailored to the needs of young patients experiencing substance/ addictive related disorders and comorbid conditions by managing the unit that they are assigned.

In 2016 I was asked to take on additional responsibilities and become deputy manager, to assist the leadership team for ensuring the facility operated effectively and efficiently. Key initiatives included: • Ensuring the delivery of quality care including continually assessing service users’ needs and wishes and developing the service to enhance their quality of life.• Maintaining clinical excellence including being a role model demonstrating how to practice high standards of nursing care

My first substantive role in senior management which gave me a great opportunity to partner in local and regional initiatives as well as provide additional senior leadership to nurses. I enjoyed acting as a patient advocate as well as ensuring quality care outcomes were provided and working in partnership with colleagues and other organisations to seek to continually innovate for our patients.

Working for a private support service for individuals who are experiencing mental health issues & for those with drug dependency issues, responsible for leading the nursing team and ensuring all care is undertaken appropriately. Key highlights included: • Participating and supporting nurses in a wide variety of professional forums• Holistically supported adult service users to move through integrated recovery-oriented services.• Developed recovery plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team that are based around the service user’s individual needs, with a focus on recovery and outcomes that are quantifiable and tangible.• Day to day leadership responsibility for the clinical area or sub team in a ward or department setting or for the total patient care or care of a group of patients in a critical care setting as required.• Responsible for the training and mentoring of all newly qualified nurses.

Recruited to work for a public Forensic Medium Secure Mental Health Service. This service provides a range of rehabilitation services in both ward and community settings across several acute and rehabilitation wards. I particularly am proud of the work undertaken including:• Caring for patients who were experiencing acute mental distress or an enduring mental health problem.• Experience working with various multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver care using a multidisciplinary client-centred approach, whilst also assessing patients' behaviour and psychological needs in daily basis.

Thornbury is a community support service to help and support individuals who suffer from mental health to sustain their daily living skills. As well as helping them gain their social network and confidence back in the community. The project acts as a bridge between the community and service providers.Brief duties and responsibilities: •One to one culturally sensitive support and drop in service to support individuals access mental health services.•Provide flexible housing, benefit, employment, debt advice and training support tailored to individual’s needs. •Supporting individuals access drug treatment services and working with families of individuals with drug dependency and mental health issues. •Facilitate complementary therapies for service users and facilitate leisure based activities for individuals with mental health and drug dependency issues. •Provide young people early intervention support service on mental health and drugs. •Facilitate workshops on mental health and drugs issues. •Provide assistance with filling forms, reading letters and other necessary support.
