Alex Cisneros Email and Phone Number
I am a Puente Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. As a fierce advocate of education, I have experienced firsthand the transformative power of education on both myself and my students. I aspire to become a high school counselor, where I can provide support and guidance, promote college readiness, and help struggling and disadvantaged students. My professional, academic, and personal journey has been shaped by several challenges: an abusive upbringing, alcoholism, and navigating a system that failed to empower me. Despite these obstacles, I became the first person in my family to attend higher education, guided my sister through her educational journey, and fueled my passion for teaching and inspiring the next generation. My passion for psychology, an Associate of Arts degree from Golden West College, and my commitment to student support have allowed me to make a meaningful impact on students. I am dedicated to empowering students who, like me, feel that no one believes in them. I aspire to be the mentor and advocate I needed, guiding students through their journeys to achieve their full potential.I have acquired, refined, and applied my skills and experience in administrative roles, educator roles, and customer service. I am currently employed by the Departments of Comparative Literature and French at UC Berkeley as a Student Administrative Assistant. My experience spans elementary, high school, collegiate, and university levels.I have been active in the local community, engaging in several organizations. I am a proud former president of the Puente Club at Golden West College, a member of Psi Beta, a former Extended Opportunity Programs and Services scholar, and the 2024 Golden West College Commencement Speaker.I am honored to be recognized as a Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship Semi-Finalist, a recipient of the Leadership Award, and a finalist for the Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship for Public Service, among several other scholarships, awards, and honors. My name is Alex Cisneros, and I will educate the generation of tomorrow.
