If a team member makes a mistake, I ensure that the work environment we provide is safe enough for them to put their hand up and accept accountability without fear of repercussions - it's far more important that people work together to resolve the issue, find out how it happened, and then ensure that there are measures in place to prevent it from reoccurring.I strongly believe in the Modern Workplace experience; providing flexible hours, working remotely, adjusting workload to prevent employees from burning out, providing employees with education and experience, and shifting the focus from outdated individual performance metrics to team/company focused results, and employee/customer experience.Rather than increasing headcount to deal with a growing workload, I prefer to look at why the workload is growing and analyse the data in order to leverage automation and strong business processes to be more efficient, in turn preventing people from becoming burnt out by repetitive tasks - a consistent issue I have seen affect many skilled technicians I have worked with over my career in IT.
