As North Africa editor for MEES I focus on the region’s energy production, economic developments, and political outlook. I strive to stitch together these elements in our weekly written analysis. Some of the key aspects of my role include:• Analysis of upstream and downstream developments across North Africa • Covering macroeconomic developments• Monthly Opec reports, including estimates of country level crude oil production data• Tracking Algerian and Libyan natural gas exports to Europe, as well as considering the potential impact of the energy transition on flows from North Africa to Europe• Tracking power sector and renewable energy developments• Political risk assessments

• Selecting the relevant world news stories of the day and deciding on their importance. • Maintaining the 'International' news section of the paper's website.• Designing and laying out the world news sections of the paper which include the sections: Britain, Europe, World, and Business.• Keeping track of upcoming world events, economic decisions and conferences to ensure news is current.• Editing and rewriting material so that it makes sense, flows better and is rid of grammatical mistakes.• Choosing pictures that best reflect a story's content.• Liaising with the Editor-in-chief and other journalists to decide on the content and importance of stories to best fit the newspaper's direction and aims. • Translating news, interviews and statements from Turkish to English for the local news sections.
