About Janice T.
“Whether we realize it or not, it is our woundedness, or how we cope with it, that dictates much of our behavior, shapes our social habits, and informs our ways of thinking about the world.” - Dr. Gabor MatéAs an empathetic and nurturing counsellor working with in-risk youths, I adopt a trauma-informed lens in my approach to understand and support youths in their rehabilitation. My background in Sociology also allows me to recognise the role that social inequalities play in influencing the life trajectories of youths in/at-risk. By marrying my training in Counselling and Sociology, I navigate the nuances and complexities that accompany the challenges of working with in-risk youth with compassion; while employing a collaborative approach to help youths meet their goals.

Manager / Probation Officer
CurrentAs a Probation Officer, I work with in-risk youths through a collaborative approach that straddles both enforcement and counselling. Being a Counsellor by training, I leverage therapeutic modalities as part of my interventions to help youths gain deeper understanding and insight into their own offending behaviours, as well as empower them with skills and strategies to become productive members of society.
Volunteer Counsellor
I provided counselling services to youths and young adults between the ages of 18 and 25, who were either facing distress in their interpersonal relationships or were seeking growth in various aspects of their lives. As a youth and young adult counsellor, I believe in the importance of building on their strengths and self-esteem to empower them to achieve the goals that they have set out for themselves, and to live more fulfilling lives.
Counselling Intern
As a Counselling Intern, I worked with youths aged 12 to 25 who need help with various mental health issues, and personal or interpersonal challenges in their lives. I conducted counselling sessions and provided therapeutic interventions to assist and empower clients to reach their counselling goals.
Divorce Support Portal (Family Assist)
In this role, I worked closely with both internal and external stakeholders to build integrated programs and systems, such as an online counselling programme, an e-learning parenting programme and other divorce-related modules for citizens deciding and/or decided on divorce.
Manager, Special Projects
I led the Customer Service team and implemented 10am-10pm answering system to ensure 15 minute replies, contributing to an increase in revenue of 400% in Q4 of 2020. To streamline Customer Service processes and improve our service, I managed a talkbot project (collaboration between Carro and Wiz.AI) to facilitate an automated FAQ system as well as cold calls to hit sales targets. I also recruited the new team of Core Business Associates and Managers for the Carro Singapore business team, conducting orientation programmes to ensure new hires transitioned smoothly.
Centre Manager (Online Programme)
