As the Director of South & Central Asia Division at the Voice of America, I supervise the production and distribution of multimedia content in 9 languages for hundreds of millions of audiences in 10 countries. I have been in this role for over two years, leading a team of several hundred journalists and media professionals who deliver accurate, objective, and comprehensive news and information on topics of regional and global significance.Journalism is my passion and my mission. I have more than 20 years of experience as a reporter, anchor, correspondent, and manager, covering some of the most challenging and critical stories in the world, such as the rise and fall of Islamic State in Afghanistan, the Taliban takeover of Kabul, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the mass migration of people from Middle East to Europe during the rise of ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and the Black Lives Matter movement in the U.S. I have won multiple awards for my courage, excellence, and professionalism, including two David Burke awards and several NY Film Festival awards. I am also committed to mentoring and developing the next generation of journalists, empowering them with the skills and resources to produce high-quality and impactful content.
