CurrentReinvigorating the way the ABS supports, empowers and generates success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and strategies. Responsible for developing and implementing human centered designed and culturally informed strategies to improve representation and growth of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and a workplace that embodies cultural safety, security, competency and integrity. The main focus of the role is on the development and implementation of the ABS Cultural Capability Framework, the new ABS Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), and responding but also embedding priority actions from the Commonwealth Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Workforce Strategy 2020-24 and reforms outlined in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. Beyond this, I'm responsible for repositioning the ABS, and influencing APS Inclusion and Diversity outputs, in integrating Cultural Safety as a legislative component of a safe workplace and bullying and harassment policies, bolstering the importance of cultural competence. You cannot create a culturally safe workplace in a culturally incompetent one.
