My main experience comes in the world of education and nonprofit sports programs. I have studied and worked in a variety of settings. My passions for basketball started from a young age and continued to playing for my varsity basketball team at Laurentian University. I am starting out my journey into the world of coaching, looking to make a difference in the lives of young athletes.As I studied education at Laurentian University, I pursued a career in the world of education with the goal of making a difference in the lives of the next generation. To be a strong male role model that leads by example and sets a level of standard for the young learners to pursue. My main strengths as an educator is understanding the importance of building relationships with my students to ensure they are more engaged, and setting values for my classroom to abide by, with their input being welcomed. This transfers to coaching because as John Wooden proposed, a great coach is a great teacher who is able to get his squad to accept the role that is beneficial for the team. In order to get an athlete to by in, you must first build a relationship that and cultivate a set of values that every athlete must agree upon. This will help to create a culture for excellence on the basketball court, just as it has in my teaching career as an educator. As a teacher for the past 4 years I am always learning, and over the span of 4 years I have added additional qualifications to help me better my skills and understanding to be a better teacher. From special education to career and guidance counselling, I want to make sure that I can care for the students the best way possible by keeping myself knowledgeable. I have been coaching for the past year now as an assistant coach for an academy team in Brampton called Victory Academy. I am looking for an opportunity to gain experience in coaching and player development to broaden my experience.
