I've spent a joyful 8 years in the upper elementary classroom. As an educator, I have been safe space and support system for hundreds of young people that I've had the gift to know. I have inspired a love of math in students who did not feel confident, taught reading strategies that led to deep comprehension and helped all the students I've taught realize personal and academic growth. I build a classroom culture grounded respect, love, joy and rigor. To support that goal, I've created math and social studies curriculum with an inquiry based, student-centered approach. I've trained teachers to deliver and differentiate math concepts, and to analyze individual and class data to plan responsive teaching. I've delivered academic assistance services for grades 2-3 in both math and reading. Recently, I completed my Masters in Public Policy with an emphasis on Urban Planning because I wanted to understand how a social safety net can better prepare students and families to thrive. I have utilized R Studio to perform statistical analysis of program outcomes and used GIS to represent spatial data that can be useful for policy makers. My policy interests are health, education, affordable housing and sustainability. I am excited to pursue leadership roles in the policy space, and continue to support students and families.
