Drafted a brief note on trademark registration procedure with timelineLearnt the ins and outs of the IP India website, how to conduct public searches, check the application status, retrieve Examination Reports and replies, find out about conflicting marks, drafting replies to ER’s, what case laws and principles can be applied for the same.Conducted online and public searches to ascertain if a certain company is using a mark and if it owns any trademark applications for the same or variations thereof, also checked the status of the applications on IP India’s website.Read up on NICE classification and prepared a note on the same.Conducted research and drafted a copyright appeal letter to the meta oversight board regarding the baseless take down of our client’s Facebook page based on a false claim.Researched on and downloaded relevant documents from the E-register of 5 trademarks in the process of being registered.Determined whether affidavits were filed and if there were any evidence supporting their date of use, the objections raised and arguments taken against the same.Prepared the draft reply for an examination report.Drafted an Affidavit of prior use.Prepared list of various architecture firms, home-bakers, startups, etc. and determined their trademark status to find potential clients for the firm.Communicated with IP office to determine status of ongoing matters.Worked with Copyright cases, the procedure and other relevant documents and compliances needed for the same and debriefed for the same.

 Worked on various case related to Section 106 of the Transfer of Property Act, 1882, Section 8 and 9 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 and The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. Learned about Affidavit of Service, R.A.E Suits, Affidavit in Rejoinder, Revision applications and Section 34 of the Maharashtra Rent Control Act, 1999. Visited the Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunal at Kolkata to oversee proceedings of various matters, visited City Civil Court and learned about filing a Hazira and role of a Notary and Oath Commissioner. Regularly visited the High Court at Calcutta to observe proceedings on matters taken up at the firm including a high profile anticipatory bail case in Hon’ble Justice Joymallo Bagchi’s Courtroom. General research, drafting of case synopses and list of dates

 Writing and drafting case comments and articles. The editorial team reviewed the same and reverted them to me if any editing was deemed necessary. After the process of reviewing and editing was complete, they were published on their website.

 Expanded on my knowledge on legal research through law based portals, learning about how to file RTIs, also invaluable professional advice on how to format a CV and how to write research papers among a variety of other informative sessions conducted by eminent personalities in the field of law. There were also several landmark cases explained and discussed in detail by the course coordinator every day of the internship.
