I help customers plan, install and deploy IBM Spectrum Protect, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, and related Data Protection products in their data center.

I developed the curriculum of international IBM Systems TechU (formerly Technical University) events for the IBM Z, z/OS, LinuxONE and LInux on Z tracks. IBM ran about 18 of these technical in-person training conferences per year, across six continents. I presented lectures and demos, vetted and recruited speakers, identified and scheduled technical topics related to IBM Z, Linux, Storage, as well as soft skills for IBM Design Thinking, IT Leadership and Professional Development. In the past 18 months, I managed 17 in-person events (13 countries) and 12 virtual events. The size of these events ranged from a few hundred attendees, to several thousand. My job also included front-end and back-end web development of the IBMtechU.com website servers that manages CVENT registration data via Webhook interface, Android and iOS event agenda mobile application support, and Content Management System for selecting and scheduling speakers and topics for events.

As chief "Subject Matter Expert" (SME) at the Tucson Client Experience Center, I present briefings on storage topics covering the entire IBM Systems Storage product line, Spectrum software-defined storage suite of offerings, Fibre Channel and SAN infrastructure, as well as IBM Systems topics related to Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cognitive and Cloud Computing. I interact with clients, speak at conferences and events, and led solution design workshops to help clients with strategic planning for IBM’s integrated set of storage management software, hardware, and virtualization products. From 2007-2018, I helped close over $4 billion US dollars in IBM revenues.I have technical product knowledge in DS8900F, TS7760, FlashSystem, Storwize, Spectrum Control, Spectrum Protect, TS4500, LTO, and other flash, disk and tape systems.My job involved using Spark, Jupyter notebooks, Anaconda, Python, Pandas, NumPy and other machine learning tools and libraries to make projections, forecasting the number of clients and briefing workload for strategic planning.I also served as Cloud Computing center-of-competency and worked on the following IBM Redbooks and Residencies:--IBM Software-Defined Storage Guide, REDP-5121- (00, 01, 02)--IBM Private, Public, and Hybrid Cloud Storage Solutions, REDP-4873-04--SM-3C04-R01: IBM Cloud Computing Social Media Residency

I served as portfolio manager, offering manager, marketing manager, product manager, and project manager for various IBM storage products. Technical evangelist for storage software, including IBM SAN Volume Controller and IBM Tivoli Storage Manager. I was chief marketing strategist for transition from "TotalStorage" to "System Storage", winner of Liquid Brand award in 2006 and 2007, as part of effort to consolidate servers and storage systems into the "IBM Systems" brand. I also started "Inside System Storage" blog September 2006 as part of 50th anniversary marketing events for disk systems. From 2006 to 2019, this blog has been read by thousands of IBM clients, business partners and employees. This blog was rated one of the top 10 blogs for the IT storage industry by “Networking World” magazine, and the top 10 blogs at IBM, reaching over 15 million views/year in 2019. Software design, development, test and support for HSM (now called DFSMShsm) and eventually promoted to be chief architect of the entire DFSMS storage management software product. I was then Chief Architect for IBM Spectrum Protect (IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center). Team lead for storage device drivers porting to Linux on Z (S/390) and development of CDL and LDL dasdfmt disk layouts. Frequent public speaker and official IBM requirements representative at SHARE user group and other technical conferences. Managed critical situations (Crit-Sit) and performed on-site root cause analysis, debugging, developed and implemented fixes and workarounds, testing, and communicated to high-level executives on status and progress.

Organized 25-30 social events per month for active singles in the Tucson area.

To prepare me in a career of Public Speaking to represent IBM products at conferences like SHARE, my manager enrolled me in the “IBM Faculty Loan Program”. My Master of Science degree in Engineering entitled me to teach at the local community college. I taught the fundamentals of computer science, with programming in BASIC.

Managed a small three-person freelance software development firm that created customized software applications for local architects, doctors, accountants, retailers, and other businesses. Developed real-time microcode firmware for automobile turbo-charge controllers for Garrett AiResearch (now part of AlliedSignal/Honeywell)

Maintained enterprise resource planning (ERP) software applications on UNIX systems with Informix databases for head office of local franchise owner. Connected all cash registers electronically to central office via API programming .
