A former naval officer with the Nigerian Navy and maritime security expert, I am Lieutenant Commander Oluwole Saheed Azeez, whose roots run deep in agriculture. My humble beginnings in Mokola Ibadan, where I started as a farm boy tending to vegetables and fruits, sowed the seeds of my passion for agriculture. This passion was further nurtured under the mentorship of my brother in aquaculture, and later, my first investment in the sector.Trained as a chemist and with an illustrious military career, I strongly believe that true world peace and maritime safety stem from food security. This conviction propelled me to resign my presidential commission and pivot from missiles and warships to ploughs after 17 years in service.Today, I am a fervent agribusiness builder, having scaled my initial $200 investment in 2016 to over a million dollars within a year, even before formal operations began. My entrepreneurial spirit thrives on creating opportunities within the agricultural sector. I pioneered the concept of Agricultural Real Estate (AgRE), which revolutionizes collaborative finance in agriculture. My endeavors include establishing the first Agricultural Smart Farming and Data Centre in Africa and launching multiple projects like Vedgiland, Fagex, and FarmKoin, which promise to transform credit access for farmers through tokenization.Recognizing the urgency to engage the younger generation in agriculture, I founded the Agricultural Social Entrepreneurship Foundation (ASEF) to inspire and nurture potential farmers. We've initiated agricultural clubs in schools, and empowered women with training, mentorship, and grants in various agricultural ventures.I envision a future where Africa leads in agriculture, driven by technological innovation, collaboration, and sustainable practices.
